Sexual Health Workshops in Schools

We offer interactive sexual health workshops for school classes across Heidelberg and the Rhein-Neckar district. Our approach is based on the World Health Organization (WHO) definition: Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being in relation to sexuality, not merely the absence of disease.

Our workshops combine essential knowledge with the development of self-awareness and self-determination. We aim to support young people in making informed choices, understanding their bodies, and treating themselves and others with respect and responsibility.

Topics Covered:

• Infection Basics: Understanding transmission routes, prevention, testing options, and modern treatments.
• Navigating Healthcare: Practical tips on visiting doctor's offices and understanding statutory health insurance coverage.
• Body Awareness: Recognizing symptoms, understanding health versus illness, and breaking down shame or insecurity.
• Healthy Communication: Learning how to talk about safer sex, communicate personal needs, and confidently negotiate boundaries.
• HIV/AIDS Awareness: Insights into living with HIV today, fighting discrimination, and learning about the supportive work of Aidshilfe.

Student-Centered Approach
The questions and interests of the young people are our main priority. They can share their questions openly or submit them anonymously using a question box before or during the session.

Methodology
Our workshops are highly interactive, focused on open dialogue, and aimed at building personal confidence. They generally take place without a teacher in the room to ensure a safe, confidential environment. We do require that a teacher remain nearby and available to support any students who might need to step out and take a break.

Duration & Timing
A standard workshop lasts two school periods (90 minutes). We are flexible and can adapt the timing to fit your schedule, and we are happy to run full project days.

Target Audience
These sessions are tailored for students starting from the 8th grade.

Pricing
Heidelberg Schools: €80 per 90-minute workshop (€40 per 45 min / €53 per 60 min)
Rhein-Neckar District Schools: €120 per 90-minute workshop (€60 per 45 min / €80 per 60 min)

• Budget constraints? If you would love to book a workshop but lack the funding, please reach out to us anyway. We will do our best to find a solution together.

Important Notice: Please understand that we can only work with individual classes. Experience shows that combining multiple classes negatively impacts the safe environment and makes it much harder to use interactive methods effectively.
