Anti-Discrimination

Aidshilfe Heidelberg has always been an advocacy group for people living with HIV. For this reason, anti-discrimination work has been a central focus since our counseling center was first established.

Today, an HIV infection is highly treatable, and under effective treatment, it becomes undetectable and untransmittable (U=U). Despite this, many individuals continue to experience exclusion and disadvantage in their social environments, daily professional lives, or the healthcare system.

We are a central point of contact and resource center for HIV-positive people who have experienced discrimination and stigma. We provide emotional support, offer guidance on complaint and legal options, and document cases of discrimination. In doing so, we work closely with the Deutsche Aidshilfe's service center for "HIV-related Discrimination" and the Anti-Discrimination Network of the City of Heidelberg. Naturally, all cases are treated confidentially and, upon request, anonymously.
